Wanhai revises Asian-American route, turns to internal Asian market

It is reported that after severe congestion in California ports affected the shipping company's navigation plans, Wanhai Shipping has begun to reroute ships on its Asia-US West Coast route to its core intra-Asian route.
Announcing the financial results for the first nine months, Wanhai General Manager Tommy Hsieh said that since the year-end is the peak season for intra-Asian cargo transportation, profits may be maximized by shifting capacity from the US west coast to intra-Asian routes.
Tommy Hsieh said ships wait 28 days to berth at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, a situation that is unlikely to improve even early next year.
"The congestion is so severe that we are no longer able to provide reliable scheduling, so we are gradually withdrawing some ships and putting them on our intra-Asian routes to catch peak shipments to India and Vietnam." Tommy Hsieh said.
Tommy Hsieh said: "India and Vietnam are gradually recovering from the impact of the outbreak, and recently, there has been a significant increase in cargo traffic from these countries. By diverting ships to areas where cargo traffic is growing rapidly, we can arrange sailing schedules more flexibly."
